These are some of my favorite artists (not all) - I've tried to categorize these at least somewhat. These artists are all painting in a realist style:
Portraits and Still Life Artists
- Michael Malm - Great painterly touch.
- David Jon Kassan - Incredible details he captures in the portrait.. I took a 5-day workshop with him in 2013.
- David Gray - Awesome portrait artist, and he does amazing still life work. A master of muted color scheme and a very soft controlled touch. I took a 4 day workshop with David, he's an excellent teacher.

Religious Artists
- Jeffrey Hein - a top notch portrait and LDS religious artist. He paints only from life, no photos.. and it shows.
- Rose Datoc Dall - love her work, such color and drawing mastery
- Walter Rane - A well known and top notch LDS artist.
Figurative Realist Artists
- Steve Huston - perhaps the best figurative artist working today
- Mary Qian - she and I were at BYU together, Mary is from China and is just amazing.

Fantasy / Sci-fi Illustrators

- Edward Binkley - Love his imaginative characters
- Lincoln Adams - I'm a sucker for great character designs
- Arantzazu Martinez - taught by Jacob Collins, and doing fantasy work..
- Kim Kincaid - proving (at age 60) it's never too late to start an art career. Awesome.
