Coastal Agates

Here's a new shot of something I just finished up.

Progress shots - "No More Strangers"

Here's a progress shot of a painting I'm currently working on. Really loving this so far. It's the most ambitious painting I've done, involving 10 portraits!

New show up at the Battle Ground Community Library

This month I've got an art show up at our local library in Battle Ground, WA.  I have several portraits and also sea-scapes (water-scapes??) that I've been working on. If you're around the area, please stop into the gallery room!  The library also has 4 of my other paintings on permanent display on the opposite side of the building, in the reading room.

Fun art visit to York Elementary School today

Had a great time today visiting York Elementary School today. Talked to the kids about painting, drawing and answered lots of questions about the process of creating art!  I think a lot of them are excited to go home and start drawing and painting! It was a lot of fun & makes me want to get back to teaching again. Kids are awesome!!

Thoughts about Religion and Art from an LDS perspective

A few years back I created a website that was meant to be a gathering place for LDS artists, but because of limited time I never really made it what it could have been. But as part of that project I researched some information that I want to keep for future reference:

Article in our local Battle Ground newspaper

Last week as we were heading down to CA to visit my sister for Thanksgiving, I received a text from a reporter from our local Battle Ground newspaper, The Reflector.  He said he was working on a story for Christmas, and wanted to promote local art and buying gifts locally, and asked if he could talk about my art.  Of course I was willing!

Here's the article - and the image was a full 1/4 page in paper!

Why Guinevere? -- and some process pics

Why Guinevere? Well, after not painting much last year at all (mostly focused on writing the book), but also feeling a little lost artistically...  Amy and I visited England for the 2nd time.  We visited several galleries in both London and Oxford. After spending several days looking at all kinds of art I felt most impressed and inspired by some of the different Pre-Raphaelite paintings we saw. I was really moved by their ambition, their patience, the obvious planning, effort, and time that went into these images.

I've written a book

I confess, 2016 was not a very productive year for me as a painter.  I got it into my head to write a book, and it's finally finished and up on Amazon!  If you get a chance, please take a look:
