New river & rocks painting
Well I finally wrapped this one up.
After seeing it sit half-finished on the easel for a couple months, and knowing that our local BGAA art show is coming up this month, I decided it was time to get back to work. I had to get back into my self-imposed regimen of getting up at 5:30am, personal study time, then painting from about 6:30-9:00am in order to finish it. Then I start my web programming work from about 9:30 - to usually around 5 - sometimes later, but I'm always done by 6. After about 3 days of working on it with this schedule, it was completed. Okay that last day (a Friday), I pushed hard for about 4-5 hours.
Being self-employed, I can swing the schedule a little bit - but I have a lot going on with my web clients so it's still tough to find time to do everything. I ended up putting in some time Saturday to get some web work completed.
I find however, that as I'm going to bed at night, if I know that I'm going to wake up and jump into a painting pretty much first thing in the morning, I'm looking forward with excitement to the day. The only downside is that I'm not really present or available as the kids are getting ready & heading off to school - which is a bummer. But, if I decide to paint all (or even half) a day on a Saturday, that's hard on the family too. It's nice that the kids are getting older now. My youngest is about to turn 7!
Ah well, this is about the best I can come up with. I'm not a late-night painter. I've always been an early-morning person.
