Oil on canvas, 30"x30".  Well it's another rock painting.. this time I decided to go after some colorful agates.  The decision to create a line of gray / white rocks actually happened as I was half-way through the painting.  As colorful as it was, I felt it was starting to become too busy.  It just seemed like we needed some space to breath, and one thing I learned a long time ago from Bruce Smith is the importance of gray for contrast and showing color. Adding neutral tones really allow the colors to pop. Color next to a neutral gray bursts out stronger than by itself.
